The Devon Bootlegs are a walking group based in the south west of Britain and formed in January 2001. We are part of the Ramblers - a '20s & 30s' group, and our members are in their 20s, 30s and into their 40s. We are a very active group of around 100 members, with walks or weekends away every week, throughout the year - plus social activities during the week. If you're looking for a lively group of people from a range of backgrounds, then get in touch or just turn up to the next walk.

Where we meet

On Sundays we meet at 9.30 am at Bude Street, Exeter (click here for map), (unless otherwise stated in the walk details) to arrange car sharing to the start of the days walk. We suggest that passengers make a voluntary donation to help cover the costs of petrol and parking.  You can also meet us at the start of the walk.

What to bring

Please bring appropriate footwear and clothing. This will depend on the time of year and weather conditions e.g. hats and gloves for walking in cold weather and waterproof clothing if it's wet. Denim Jeans are not generally suitable, especially in the winter or in wet weather - they take a long time to dry out if wet and have a high wind chill factor.

This page from the Rambler's association offers more advice. For most walks you will also need to bring a packed lunch and drink. If you do not have appropriate equipment, walk leaders may have to ask you not to come on the walk if they feel that a lack of proper footwear or equipment could put you or others at risk.

Join up

Please come and join us for up to three walks, after which time we expect you to become a member. The rates are shown below. We also have an active social programme for members. So join now!

Normal Membership Rates: Individual £27, Joint £36, Reduced £15, Joint Reduced £20 (Reduced rates for under 18s, students, disabled & unwaged).

Register with the site

Have a look at the site, we have a calender of walks and other events. If you're already a member of the Bootlegs, please register to gain access to the social events calender and a number of other members only items.
